Musical Baby

How to Develop Baby Musical Intelligence
A clinical trial showed that to the premature in a restless state, playing smoothing music has the comforting effect. Some studies have pointed out that someone saying or playing an instrument can attract the attention of a two month baby immediately. When the baby is five months old, this attention can maintain one hour and a half. Music can not only comfort baby, but also develop intelligence. This article will introduce the following six ways to help you train a smart baby.
First, listen to familiar music. The music infant listened to during antenatal training must be reviewed, and pay attention to the warm expression on baby face. Parents should regularly sing to the baby, play familiar music to maintain the positive impact of antenatal training.
Second, listen to different music in different scenes. Baby bath time play cheerful music; laughing and amusing together with baby play gaiety game song; strolling in the park with the baby in a small car play songs singing the spring; seeing the baby dance play beautiful dance music. Thus the Baby Can have difference vision and auditory feel and rich the relationship between scene and music.
Third, play fixed music while baby doing passive exercise. In a passive exercise, playing the same piece of music in a certain period of time can help baby to remember what actions to do in each piece of music. Thus the passive exercise would turn to active gymnastics listening to music.
Fourth, encourage baby to make sound. When the baby is very happy, you can record his sound and repeated playback. Many voices in daily life, such as tap flushing sound, the voice of the wind blowing the leaves, cat call and dog bark, can be recorded and play again, for Your Baby to imitate.
Fifth, play with musical toys. Baby likes toys that can sound, such as bell flower sticks, small bells, music boxes, musical tumbler, beating drums, musical rotary disk, especially musical boxes that can play children songs automatically. Children like to control these musical toys to play music and gradually be familiar with the music.
Finally, there should be fixed time listening to classical music in family, 10 to 15 minutes a day, choose short, sprightly and serene music. Baby Boy prefers more passionate music, such as Schumann’s “happy farmer “, Mozart’s “Turkish March”, Meacham’s “patrols march” and Beethoven’s Minuet in G major.

18 Original Sun Greatest Hits $13.96 This 18-song CD contains Jerry Lee Lewis’ best rock & roll sides from the 240 or so tracks that he recorded for Sun Records. If that sounds like the very tiny tip of a very large iceberg — it is. But this 1984 compilation remains 40 of rock & roll’s hottest minutes, revealing as much about Jerry Lee Lewis as it’s possible to learn from watching the movie Great Balls of Fire! The hit singles and best B-sides are assembled around the core of his 1957 Sun album — a great, and instructive, musical decision. Lewis’ rocking version of “Jambalaya” and his ivory-based rendition of “Matchbox,” “Big Blon’ Baby,” “Big Legged Woman,” and “It’ll Be Me,” are all prime examples of his fiercely sexual personality, pounding away on those keys and whooping and hollering like a white version of Piano Red. Equally important, “Crazy Arms” held what would prove to be the key to his professional salvation: a distinct way with a country song that didn’t blow the song right apart and also didn’t lose the rock ‘n roll audience. A big hunk of this stuff is available on the Sun debut album, which should be heard at least once (assuming one can’t afford the Bear Family label’s Classic box with his whole Sun output), but this is the place to start. The mid-’80s digital transfer still sounds good; its quality proves that Rhino always gave good value to its customers. The guitars on “Put Me Down” and “Wild One” — yes, there is guitar on a lot of these sides — are nice and crunchy, even though they’re buried under the piano. If there’s a flaw here, it’s the absence of any liner notes (not that much needs to be said about music like this). ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi |

1913: Come and See the Big Parade $19.98 This release on Archeophone Records is part of the Phonographic Yearbook series, with each edition featuring the biggest hit records of a particular yesteryear. 1913: Come and See the Big Parade contains 24 such songs and a booklet with various pictures, graphics, and extensive liner notes, making the whole package a sort of musical encyclopedia for that year. While the sound quality is less than stellar (not surprising given that it was 1913), the music still shines through. The songs and the artists are unfamiliar for the most part, but they quickly grow on you. There are the deep vocals and somber tone of Alan Turner on “Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold” (the popularity of which had much to do with America’s fascination for the Persian world at the time), the silliness of Ada Jones singing “…and he knew just how to row, he was a rowing Romeo” on “Row! Row! Row!,” the happy upbeat marching melody on the instrumental “Too Much Mustard” by Prince’s Band, and Al Jolson turning in an overly dramatic rendering of “You Made Me Love You.” Not to be missed is the forgotten Irving Berlin song “Snookey Oookums,” performed here by Billy Murray, with such classic lyrics as “For goodness sake!/Don’t keep us all awake!/With your snookey, ookey, ookey, baby talk!” 1913: Come and See the Big Parade covers an array of styles from sentimental and silly to ethnic (such as the Irish songs by Chauncey Olcott and Charles Harrison) and timely. ~ Simon Cantlon, Rovi |

25 & Alive: Boneshaker $19.99 Mot? rhead is one of a kind. A no-nonsense, no-holds-barred rock & roll band — led by legendary vocalist/bassist/songwriter Lemmy Kilmister — who profoundly influenced heavy metal and punk alike. For a thorough overview of Mot? rhead on home video, it’s going to be difficult to top SPV’s 2001 DVD 25 & Alive: Boneshaker. The core of this DVD is Mot? rhead’s 25th anniversary concert held at Brixton Academy in London on October 22, 2000, during the We Are Mot? rhead tour. Lemmy, guitarist “Philthy Animal” Taylor, and drummer Mikkey Dee treat the capacity crowd to a 23-song set. Highlights include “We Are Mot? rhead,” “I’m So Bad (Baby I Don’t Care),” “Overnight Sensation,” the Sex Pistols cover “God Save the Queen,” “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” “You Better Run,” “Orgasmatron,” “Going to Brazil,” “Damage Case,” “Bomber,” and “Ace of Spades.” Several surprise guests sit in on a few songs, including Warlock and Doro goddess Doro Pesch and Ugly Kid Joe’s Whitfield Crane on vocals during “Born to Raise Hell,” longtime Mot? rhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke during “The Chase Is Better Than the Catch,” Lemmy and Philip Anthony Campbell’s sons on guitar during “Killed by Death,” and Clarke, Queen guitarist Brian May, and Skunk Anansie guitarist Ace during the final encore, “Overkill.” But that’s not all. 25 & Alive: Boneshaker is also stuffed with interviews, photos, bandmember biographies, “Sacrifice” and “God Save the Queen” music videos, and a special discography noting rare and obscure Mot? rhead singles and albums from around the world. Musical extras include Lemmy and Campbell performing “Ain’t No Nice Guy” acoustically in a London studio in July 2001, and Mot? rhead ripping through “R.A.M.O.N.E.S.,” “Shoot You in the Back,” “Born to Raise Hell” (with guest vocalist Nina C. Alice of Skew Sisken), and “Ace of Spades” at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany in August 2001. One fully loaded DVD like 25 & Alive is a grea… |

Achtung Baby [Deluxe Edition] $169.98 Reinventions rarely come as thorough and effective as Achtung Baby, an album that completely changed U2’s sound and style. The crashing, unrecognizable distorted guitars that open “Zoo Station” are a clear signal that U2 have traded their Americana pretensions for postmodern, contemporary European music. Drawing equally from Bowie’s electronic avant-garde explorations of the late ’70s and the neo-psychedelic sounds of the thriving rave and Madchester club scenes of early-’90s England, Achtung Baby sounds vibrant and endlessly inventive. Unlike their inspirations, U2 rarely experiment with song structures over the course of the album. Instead, they use the thick dance beats, swirling guitars, layers of effects, and found sounds to break traditional songs out of their constraints, revealing the tortured emotional core of their songs with the hyper-loaded arrangements. In such a dense musical setting, it isn’t surprising that U2 have abandoned the political for the personal on Achtung Baby, since the music, even with its inviting rhythms, is more introspective than anthemic. Bono has never been as emotionally naked as he is on Achtung Baby, creating a feverish nightmare of broken hearts and desperate loneliness; unlike other U2 albums, it’s filled with sexual imagery, much of it quite disturbing, and it ends on a disquieting note. Few bands this far into their careers have recorded albums as adventurous or fulfilled their ambitions quite as successfully as U2 do on Achtung Baby, and the result is arguably their best album. For the 20th birthday of Achtung Baby, U2 went all out and released no less than five anniversary editions: a single-disc remaster, a double-disc Deluxe Edition, a vinyl box set, a six-CD/four-DVD Super Deluxe Edition, and finally an Uber Deluxe Edition that takes the Super Deluxe Edition and adds various tchotchkes like a magnetic puzzle, badges, stickers, and a replica of Bono? s Fly sunglasses. Only those with deep wallets will need to conce… |

Anthology $23.99 The release of the Rick James Anthology completes a set of James best-ofs at various price points. 20th Century Masters — The Millennium Collection: The Best of Rick James is a discount-priced album, Ultimate Collection is a full-priced single-disc set, and Anthology is a two-and-a-half-hour, two-CD version of the Rick James story. Eighteen of the 23 Top 40 R&B hits that James scored between 1978 and 1988 are included (the most notable omission is the 1985 R&B Top Ten and pop chart entry “Can’t Stop” from the movie Beverly Hills Cop) along with some key album tracks, two of them, “Fire and Desire” and “Happy,” duets with James prot? g? e Teena Marie. His other collaborators include Smokey Robinson (“Ebony Eyes”) and the Temptations (with a 12″ remix of “Standing on the Top” that runs nearly ten minutes). Included for the first time on a James compilation is his final major hit, “Loosey’s Rap,” featuring Roxanne Shant? , which appeared originally on Reprise Records in 1988. James’ influence on popular music remains apparent on these tracks, largely in his grooves — the rhythm pattern on “Give It to Me Baby” was borrowed by Michael Jackson for “Thriller,” for example, and of course MC Hammer created “U Can’t Touch This” by rapping over the musical track of “Super Freak” — but also in his unabashedly lascivious lyrical content. “I led the life I was singing about in my songs,” James tells David Ritz in the excellent liner notes, and that may help explain why he had such a hard time in the 1990s. But the best of his ’70s and ’80s material is to be found here. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide |

Bandana Splits $12.99 With a sound which harks back to both the post-wartime jazz-pop of the Andrews Sisters and the girl group doo wop of the ’60s, Brooklyn trio the Bandana Splits’ self-titled album situates itself between fellow jukebox joint revivalists the Puppini Sisters and the Pipettes. The vintage red petticoats and deliberately retro record sleeve indicate that the newly formed band can certainly re-create the look of the era, but luckily, with producer Sam Cohen (Apollo Sunshine) on board, its 13 tracks also prove that there’s substance to their style. The steel pedal-laden reworking of the Caravelles’ Brill Building classic “You Don’t Have to Be a Baby to Cry,” a faithfully melancholic rendition of contemporary U.S. troubadour Benji Hughes’ “All You Gotta Do Is Fall in Love,” and a playful cover of Bette Midler’s cabaret number, “Hawaiian Love Song,” show that the band’s musical knowledge extends far beyond the usual ’50s and ’60s standards, but the original compositions achieve their authentic, pastiche ambitions just as effectively. “Lavez Vous” is a tongue in cheek tale about learning French via various beauty products, which starts out with some gentle ukulele chords before turning into an appropriately cutesy slice of Gallic lounge-pop; “Sometimes” and “Ricky Dee” are gloriously infectious bubblegum pop anthems which combine a Spector-inspired Wall of Sound with breezy West Coast harmonies; while there are convincing attempts at seductive bossa nova (“Stay if You Wanna”), hippie-ish Americana (“Desert Love”), and old-fashioned rockabilly (“Choo Choo”). While there was always a slight raised-eyebrow knowingness to their counterparts’ output, the Bandana Splits is an unashamedly affectionate and genuine homage which, for the most part, manages to sound fresh and classic at the same time. ~ Jon O’Brien, Rovi |
